Breaking Down Barriers: Camber Foundation Announces 2025 Grantees

Lifting Up Eastern NC with 30 grants totaling $1.28 million

From mental health to educational attainment, digital opportunity to workforce development, hundreds of nonprofit organizations are serving the people and communities of Eastern North Carolina every day in very important and distinct ways. Since 2022, Camber Foundation has supported community-driven solutions through programs and grants advancing health and wellness, education, and economic development across the 41-county region. This week, Camber announced $1.28 million in grants to 30 nonprofits serving Eastern North Carolina – the largest investment through Camber’s annual cycle.

Expanding Critical Services Across Eastern NC

“We observed last year how our grantees were breaking down barriers to access, be that through innovative approaches like transportation services, extended operating hours, and expanded mobile service delivery, said  Christopher Fipps, Camber Foundation’s director of community investment. “The trend continues in 2025, with a noticeable shift toward organizational growth. We’re seeing many of our grantees expanding their services – adding physical locations, mobile routes, staff capacity, new programs and departments. It’s a testament to their success and how these services are needed and wanted throughout our communities.”

Camber Foundation’s approach to grantmaking is rooted in the belief that Eastern North Carolina’s communities are rich with creativity, expertise, and vision. This year’s grantees represent a broad array of missions, yet all are united in their efforts to remove barriers that prevent people from accessing essential opportunities and resources.

“We are inspired by strong, dynamic organizations that are doing important work in their communities and want to grow and extend their reach to serve even more people, ” said Leslie Ann Jackson, president and CEO of Camber Foundation. “It is our honor to commit our support to these nonprofits, whose work is critical to the future of not just Eastern North Carolina, but our entire state.

About Our Grantees

Each 2025 grantee embodies the Camber Foundation’s fundamental goals: expanding access to essential health and wellness resources, empowering students to achieve their full potential, and fostering economic growth that enriches family and individual well-being. All 30 of the recipient organizations are deeply rooted in Eastern North Carolina, serving the beautiful, diverse communities they call home with dedicated local expertise.

“Lasting change happens when local leaders have the resources and support they need to address the most pressing challenges facing their communities, said Willona Aekins, Camber Foundation network officer, who resides in Fayetteville. “These grants represent our commitment to investing in homegrown solutions that create ripple effects of positive impact throughout Eastern North Carolina.

We are committed to supporting community-driven solutions that serve the people and places of Eastern North Carolina.

At Camber Foundation, we know that solutions come from within the community. Where we can contribute to those solutions by sharing the load, we will. That’s what “camber” means to us  – “a positive, upward curve built into the beam of a bridge, intended to distribute the load”. That’s why we chose it for our name, and we will work every day to live up to this meaning.
