Matt McDowell
Finance & Administration Officer
Matt McDowell joined Camber Foundation in May of 2024 as Finance and Administration Officer. In this role, Matt provides financial leadership and ensures good stewardship of Foundation resources to support Camber’s philanthropic commitments. He oversees finance, investment, and business administration activities, engaging with Camber’s network of partners in these areas of work, serving as their primary liaison with foundation leadership.
Prior to joining Camber, Matt started his own consulting firm focused on providing finance and accounting expertise for non-profit organizations. Before that, he served as Finance and Operations Director for the North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness for several years, and he spent the first decade of his career helping private sector organizations across a variety of industries as a management consultant.
A dedicated Tar Heel, Matt received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and went on to earn a master’s of accounting degree from Ohio State University and a master’s of public management and governance from The London School of Economics and Political Science. Matt is a certified public accountant, licensed in the state of North Carolina since 2013.
Matt’s deep familial roots in Edgecombe County fuel his passion for Eastern North Carolina nonprofits and his desire to see communities throughout the region thrive. He and his wife and two children now live in Durham, North Carolina. He is a board member of the Rotary Club of Durham and enjoys playing tennis and sightseeing throughout North Carolina with his family.
